The Rev. Thomas A. Dorsey wrote “Take My Hand, Precious Lord” after he lost his wife and infant son. It is an expression of grief and a plea for a friend who will hold his hand and offer comfort. There have been so many losses during this time of Covid. We all need to hold the hands of those who need our presence and care. We need to hear songs that cry out for a friend as exactly that—pleas for our fellow humans to befriend each other.
